Rhythm, imagery, concise verbiage - poetry - music to my ears!
Nudging the complex pieces together can flow quickly, or not. But even the challenges are fun to solve (well, usually!) Below is a lighthearted poem about how a writer's thoughts (okay, my thoughts!) may dive into another realm and not resurface for air until all the pieces fall into place with a final period.

WRITING UNDERCOVER(S)
Donna H. Bowman
Here I sit. My words I tweak.
This line I’ve worked on for a week.
Nearly have it! Almost there!
You say you have no shirts to wear?
Wash our laundry. Sit down. Write.
It’s time for dinner? Is it night?
Tick-tock echoes heard from bed.
Word’s syllables pulse in my head.
Flashlight, pencil; journal’s near.
I kiss my spouse I love so dear.
Once he sleeps – I start to write,
Curled under covers – through the night.
Time for breakfast? Is it day?
Just ten more minutes; brief delay.
Clock strikes noon. I’m done! No wait . . .
Yes, yes! That’s it! (‘Til carved in slate.)
Covers fly. I leap from bed!
Anxious ‘til my words are read.
Hubby reads; truth fills his mind.
He broadly smiles; so proud and kind.
A heart’s fulfilled; a gift’s received.
Words touched a soul. Success achieved.
